Replaced both lift cables and re-wound them on the drums so the door lifts level.
The problem
Near the coast, salt air had rusted the lift cables at the bottom brackets. One cable had frayed badly and the door was starting to lift unevenly.
What we did
- Lowered the door safely and relieved the spring tension.
- Replaced both lift cables with new, correctly sized cables.
- Rewound the cables evenly on both drums and checked the bottom brackets for rust.
- Rebalanced the door and lubricated the springs and bearings.
The result
The door lifts level again, and both cables are fresh so the second one won't fail next.
