A garage door comes off track when rollers pop out of the track, a cable slips off its drum, or something hits the door or track. The door may hang crooked, jam partway or sit tilted in the opening, and it's under tension that makes it dangerous to move.
We secure the door, find out why it came off, and fix the cause, whether that's a bent track, worn rollers or a slipped cable, before putting it back on track and rebalancing it. Just forcing the rollers back in usually means it comes off again.

Unplug the opener, keep clear and call us.

Why garage doors come off track
Impact damage
A car, trailer or heavy object bumps the door or track and bends it out of line.
Worn rollers or hinges
Broken or seized rollers and cracked hinges let the door slip out of the track.
Cable or spring failure
When a cable snaps or slips, one side drops and the door twists out of the track.
Signs your door is off track or about to be
Stop using the door if you notice:
- The door hangs crooked or tiltedOne side is higher, or the door is twisted in the opening.
- Rollers visibly outside the trackEven one roller out can jam the whole door.
- A gap between the track and the wallLoose track brackets let the track move.
- Bent or dented tracksEven small bends catch rollers as the door moves.
- Loud popping or binding soundsRollers catching or slipping in the track.
Safety first. An off-track door can fall. Don't try to force it back in the track or keep running the opener. Unplug the opener, keep people and cars clear, and call a technician.
